GILLIAN CLARKE

Gillian Clarke uses many different media to explore her ideas. These include painting, drawing, collage, printing and ceramics. Ideas, too, are many and varied; for example, finding inspiration from the natural world, the pressure on young women to look a certain way, trying to find humour in a bleak world, or just experimenting with pushing the boundaries of different media.

Her most recent work has involved the exploration of the history of beekeeping in monasteries and drawing parallels between the life in a monastic order and that of a colony of bees.
