Joyful Observations of Unfiltered Reality (Collaborative Art Project)
Series Description
I became a photographer and a father at the same time.
When we were expecting our first child, my wife, knowing my interest in photography, offered me a professional camera to record our family life. My daughter became my favourite subject. Both documentary and portrait, the images capture day after day of subtle moments of a new, young life. Through the photographs I question the narrative of growing up, between domestic normality, magical first moments and those fleeting, small changes that often go unnoticed in the routine of daily life.
How to Take Part in the Project?
As part of the Knowledge Exchange Project between Ryde (Isle of Wight) and the University of Portsmouth, my intention is to turn this series into a collaborative art project by collecting memories/stories of childhood/parenthood and link them to the photographs.
We are all made up of other people's stories. Perhaps one of these images resonates with you, speaks to the child you were, or the parent you may have become. So, when you browse through the images below, if one of them catches your eye, it's probably because it ignites something inside you; a memory, a childhood dream, a feeling of déjà vu as a parent, etc…
What's most important is that if one of them catches your eye, it probably means that you should share your story and be part of the project. Just press the button below!
